The Unicorn Theatre would like to acknowledge with thanks the generous funding received from the Bay Treasure Chest (BTC). The support of the BTC has made it possible for Unicorn to offer even more extraordinary theatrical experiences to young people both as actors and audience.

This year, our SPOOKS show will be different.  There will be three casts of eight who will each perform several short Halloween plays, take part in a spooky dance, and create some cool Halloween props.

We will rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8 pm, with all three groups taking part in all the activities at every rehearsal. The first rehearsal will be Tuesday, September 22.

The show, in front of a limited audience, will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 24.

The age range for Spooks is Grades 2-6. We will accept the first 24 people to register; there will be no auditions.

Online registration will open at 9:00 am on September 9. Registrations received before 9:00 am will not be accepted.

Please click here for the registration form, which should be completed online and emailed to unicorn.theatre@outlook.com
Unicorn’s Musical Director, Grace Dean, is offering “Pop Up” Musical Theatre Workshops for Grade 7 and up on several Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Fall. Running from 12 noon to 4 pm, each Workshop will feature a beloved musical such as “Oliver!”, “Les Mis", “Titanic”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Moana”, and more.

Following the Summer Program Covid-19 health and safety guidelines, each Workshop will be able to accommodate a maximum of eight participants. The cost is $20 a person.

Full details will be posted on Facebook when the schedule is finalized.

This year is Unicorn Theatre’s 25th Anniversary, and to celebrate we have decided to end 2020 with a Christmas show delightfully entitled “A Stocking Full of Magic”.

First presented more than 20 years ago when the theatre was still in Hubbards, “A Stocking Full of Magic" might have been especially designed to be performed within the confines of the Covid-19 health and safety protocols. It consists of three charming one-act comedies about Christmas that will be performed by three separate casts of eight actors each, as well as a small group of singers who will entertain the audience with Christmas-themed music during the two intermissions.

Auditions (Grades 2-12) will be on October 17 and 18. All auditions are by appointment only. Please email unicorn.theatre@outlook.com to book an audition. The Audition Package will be available here on the website in mid-September.

Rehearsals for “A Stocking Full of Magic” will be 6-8 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on November 3. Each play will be rehearsed separately, with the different casts having time on the stage during rehearsals. We will present the show to a limited audience on December 4-6.

And there’s more…

Because of the success of our Summer Program, we will be offering a small selection of Workshops (mainly for Grade 7 and up) during the Fall season. We will be bringing back some of the most popular workshops from the Summer Program and adding some new ones.  Full information will be posted on here on the website and on Facebook when the line up is finalized.

All the Covid-19 Health and Safety protocols will be in effect in the Bay Community Centre during theatre activities throughout the Fall season. These will include the wearing of masks, the signing of a declaration re. symptoms and contacts before children can participate, extensive cleaning of high-touch surfaces, observing of rules around physical contact, banning of all food and drink except individual water bottles, and liberal use of hand sanitizer. As well, the number of people in the various rooms will be monitored.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email unicorn.theatre@outlook.com, or call the theatre at 902-826-1687
