Our Spring 2012 production is;
Auditions for our new show, “Starmites”, a space rock musical, will be held on January 21 and 22 at the Bay Community Centre. All auditions are by appointment only (please call 857-2121 to book your time). Boys and girls must be in Grades 2-12 to audition.

About the Show
The original Starmites show opened on Broadway on April 27, 1989. It was nominated for 6 Tony awards, including Best Musical. Unicorn Theatre will be presenting a junior version, Starmites Lite, which has a running time of approximately one hour and 20 minutes.
The Story:
Eleanor, a shy teenager, is obsessed with her collection of science fiction comic books. She imagines herself a superhero, and in her fantasy becomes involved in the conflict between the evil Shak Graa and the Starmites, the guardians of Innerspace. The ‘Mites believe that Eleanor is pre-ordained to save the universe from destruction. It is Eleanor, the Starmites’ leader Spacepunk, the Starmites and the Lizard Man against the evil Banshees (weird women with dangerous hair-dos) led by Diva and Shak Graa.
The Main Characters:
ELEANOR FAIRCHILD - A teen-age girl who eventually becomes MILADY - Superhero of Innerspace.
ELEANOR’S MOTHER - An unassuming woman who loves her daughter and anxiously awaits the day when she will grow out of her comic book craze.
SPACEPUNK - Captain of the Starmites
THE STARMITES - A band of Space youths dedicated to fighting the deadly forces of the Universe. They include:
S’UP S’UP SENSABOI - The organized and methodical member of the group.
DIGGETY RAZZLEDAZZLE - The bumbling show-off of the group.
ACK ACK HACKERAX - The group's tough guy. He is second in command.
SHAK GRAA - High Priest of Chaos, determined to destroy both Earth and Innerspace.
TRINKULUS - A reptilian minstrel, once slave to Shak Graa now serving as a guide to the Starmites.
DIVA - Imposing and powerful Queen of Innerspace.
BIZARBARA - Awkward and shy daughter of Diva, who has a heart of gold and a yearning to be “normal and average.”
THE BANSHEES - Amazonian bombshells, and henchwomen to Diva. They include:
- SHOTZI - Diva’s airhead sergeant at arms. (can double as ORAGALA)
- HOLLABACK - who delights in dominating the STARMITES.
- CANIBELLE - who delights in devouring the STARMITES.
- MALIGNA - who delights in teasing the STARMITES.
Many of these parts can be played by boys or girls.
There will also be a Starmites Ensemble and a Banshees Ensemble.
